About the work in Transept:Traverse

Making this garment is part of an ongoing enquiry into that with which we clothe ourselves, literally and metaphysically, and the travels we make. To bring those questions into the context of the Cathedral focuses the nature of that enquiry towards the idea that we are continuing to make sacred journeys, and that there continue to be pilgrimage routes, which we may or may not be aware we are walking.

Biography

Walking and journey as a metaphor for growth and transformation.
The garment as an object that covers, a skin upon the skin.
The image of a pilgrims robe as a magical garment that protects the wearer on their path, that sheilds the walker as they pass over the landscape, treading that thin line between earth and heaven.
The blue pigment as the colour of the feminine, the colour of deep dreams, colour falling from the sky.
