About the work for Transept:Traverse

Title: Beyond
Media: Steel & mesh

This work takes its inspiration from the mutable spaces of Chichester cathedral. It alludes to a sense of fragility, lightness and change. It suggests a sense of place; openness and enclosure, light and dark, past and present. The mesh is a means of focus, drawing your eyes to a space beyond.

Biography

Jackie explores ideas to do with the nature of space in the built environment. She uses sculptural installation, photography, and paper-media, working with notions of site-specificity and the makeshift.

Jackie gained a 1st class BA Hons degree in Fine Art from the University of Chichester in 2006 and is now studying for an MA at Winchester School of Art. She has been a member of Artel since 2006. She exhibits locally in group exhibitions in Hampshire and Sussex.
