About the Work for Transept:Traverse
Symbolising the 900 years of the consecration of Chichester cathedral are 900 sheets of paper formed into 100 scrolls. The process involved in making them has caused them to deteriorate and erode and the residual impressions allude to the pockmarked stones, hollows and eroded carvings in the building itself. Imparting a sense of time and history, there is a further reference in conveying the written and spoken word, again echoing the fabric of the building and its’ artefacts.
