THE NATIONAL OPEN ART COMPETITION (Chichester Open)

A national showcase of contemporary art to include paintings, drawings and printsPreviously known as The Chichester Open Art Exhibition, this national competition has been relaunched this year to encourage entries from far and wide across the UK.

The competition is open to all artists; from the emerging to the established, currently based in the UK.

The distinguished panel of selectors for 2008 is chaired by Professor Maurice Cockrill RA, Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools and Richard Cork, Art Critic, and Gavin Turk, a key member of the Young British Artist Movement and one of our foremost contemporary artists.

Their collective and diverse experience will be put to the test when choosing approximately 140 works from the broad spectrum of work submitted.
The exhibition takes place on Sat 8th November – Sat 22nd November 2008 at the Chichester Festival Theatre, West Sussex, PO19 6AP.

TOTAL PRIZE MONEY £26,000

Call for Artist Applications

The arts organisation a space is pleased to announce that we are looking for artists to take part in season 4 of ArtVaults!

Artvaults is a summer long project showing contemporary art in medieval spaces around Southampton. We are looking for proposals from artists of all disciplines but feel the space particularly appropriate to sculpture, installation, time based, and mixed media pieces. Painting, photography and screen based works can be submitted, although artists should consider the environmental conditions they will be exhibiting in. Most importantly we are looking for proposals that are enticing, intriguing and that will excite the public’s imagination.

Now in it’s 4th Season ArtVaults has become a highlight of the South’s cultural calendar, last years event attracted over 19,000 visitors. This is your opportunity to participate in this unique project!

The Deadline for submissions is Friday 18th April.

There is an artists open day on Saturday 29th March for artists wishing to see the vaults - You must book to reserve your space.
