I completed my original BA Hons in Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University in 1993 and followed this with a Post-graduate Certification in Education a year later at Bretton Hall, Yorkshire. I have taught full time for fourteen years as an art and textiles teacher in both secondary schools and sixth form colleges. I currently work at St. Vincent Sixth Form College, Hampshire where I teach both AS, A levels and BTEC courses. I have just completed a part time MA in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and specialised in print-making.

Artist statement:
Agricultural history has informed my research concerning ‘The Shaping of the British Landscape.’ Farming has been absorbed into our sense of what is natural. It has been responsible for shaping the appearance of what we understand to be the ‘British Landscape.’ The concept of the ‘Farm’ as a spectacle has therefore become integral to my work.  Fabric sculpture, digital imagery and drawing are combined as still life collections that I record photographically to create virtual spaces, and more recently tangible installations. I have also experimented with an industrial CAD CAM laser cutter to etch woollen fabrics. I have used this machine as a mark-making tool in conjunction with more traditional printing methods to create a series of artist books. Research is paramount in the development of my work and I experiment with process and media to develop ideas.
