New exhibition
Transept: Traverse; Contemporary Art in the Cathedral
Taking an exciting counterpoint of contemporary insights into the meaning and imagery of Chichester Cathedral, 16 local artists from the well-established group Artel, are exhibiting in the North Transept this summer.
Forming part of the celebrations for the Cathedral’s 900 years of consecration and the 50th anniversary of the death of Bishop Bell, each artist has produced an artwork in response to these anniversaries and to the fabric of the building itself.
The exhibition aims to inspire the visitor by bringing to life ideas from the past and present and to find resonance within the Cathedral among its’ tradition of ancient and modern art
The exhibition runs from Weds 30 July to Tuesday 9 September
